On August 21st, the fourth annual SCAN Peru platform meeting was held. During the meeting, the Baseline for the “Sustainable Development Model for Peruvian Coffee” Project, prepared by the Committee on Sustainability Assessment (COSA), was presented. In the presentation, the results of key variables such as incidence of rust, productivity, management practices and sustainability indicators caught the attention of the members. The members felt that the 20 minute presentation should be extended to specifically discuss these results more in depth. The proposed date was September 4th, and the location was set to be at the Junta Nacional del Café (National Coffee Board) headquarters.
On the 21st there was also agreement on doing a presentation of the good agricultural practices (GAP) materials developed by Esteban Vargas and his consulting team. The agreement was that a team of partners would present the 18 flyers made after a final review. The target date was September 4th, after the presentation by COSA.
This meeting included the presence of 11 representatives from 7 organizations, including Solidaridad, Fairtrade Internacional, IFOAM, 4C Association, Cámara Peruana del Café y Cacao, Junta Nacional del Café, SCAN International and SCAN Peru.
